Dr. Jeremy Hodges
Dr. Jeremy Hodges was born and raised in Hueytown, AL. He attended Jefferson State Community College for 2 years before transferring to Auburn University. He received a bachelors of Science degree in 1999, then graduated Auburn’s veterinary school in 2003. In addition to dogs and cats, he has limited knowledge of pocket pet and avian care. Dr. Hodges is married with 3 children.
Dr. Hodges has worked for clinics in Vestavia, Gardendale, and Trussville but is now settled in at Lake Crest Animal Clinic. He enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery and really likes educating his clients.
Dr. Sara Choquette
Dr. Sara Choquette grew up in Anniston, Alabama. She started at Auburn University in 2001 where she received both her B.S. in Animal Science and DVM degrees. Following graduation in 2009, she completed a 1 year internship in Equine Internal Medicine at Oklahoma State University. Her first job out of vet school was at an equine referral practice in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. After 3 years, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia and worked with a corporate small animal practice. Dr. Choquette joined the Lake Crest Animal Clinic team in August 2016. She has an interest in all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with her two dogs, horseback riding, and mountain biking.
Dr. Shane West
Dr. Shane West attended Auburn University for both his undergraduate and veterinary training. He graduated in 1984 and has practiced at Vestavia Animal Clinic ever since. He has been or is still affiliated with Vestavia Animal Clinic, North Shelby County Animal Hospital , Trussville Main Street Animal Clinic and now Lake Crest Animal. Dr. West’s interests are in small animal medicine and surgery, but he has a special interest in treating exotic pets. He has experience with rodents, reptiles, avians, and pot-bellied pigs to name a few. Dr. West is married with 3 sons.
Dr. Frank McClure
Dr. Frank McClure attended undergraduate school at the University of Kentucky before transferring to and graduating from vet school at Auburn University in 1991. He began working at Vestavia Animal Clinic in 1991, but has also been affiliated with other local clinics. Dr. McClure helped open North Shelby County Animal Hospital in 1999 and was a partner until 2006, helped open and is still involved at Trussville Main Street Animal Clinic, and is now part of Lake Crest Animal Clinic. In addition to small animal medicine and surgery, Dr. McClure sees pocket pets and birds for basic care and medicine. He is married with 2 sons.
Dr. Brent Chandler
Dr. Brent Chandler attended both undergraduate and veterinary schools at Auburn University. He graduated in 1994 and eventually opened North Shelby County Animal Hospital in 1999 with doctors West and McClure. Dr. Chandler still owns and works at North Shelby County Animal Hospital and is now a part of Lake Crest Animal Clinic. Dr. Chandler’s interests are in small animal medicine and surgery. He is married with 2 children.
